As recently as 2023, Operation Penalidade Maxima in Brazil investigated players involved in fixing actions like penalties and yellow cards.
Meanwhile, in the top leagues, football authorities such as FIFA and UEFA work closely with betting companies to monitor and prevent suspicious patterns of behaviour that could be a result of match fixing.
